Due to chronic periodontal disease, Priya’s (name changed) entire set of teeth had to be removed by the time she was 43. Her doctor gave her the option of full mouth implants or dentures. Priya decided to get dentures due to the expense and her apprehension about undergoing more invasive procedures in her mouth.

Priya was thrilled to finally have a set of teeth that functioned perfectly, but she soon realized how difficult it was to wear dentures on a regular basis. Her mouth felt uncomfortable and she would often develop sores which made wearing the dentures a painful experience. She often forgot to put her dentures back in the morning after taking them out before bed. She gradually stopped wearing the dentures at home over time. They were saved for formal events and special occasions.

“Even though I pretended it did not matter, the fact that I did not have permanent teeth affected my self-esteem. I stopped talking or smiling in front of others fearing ridicule or awkwardness,” says Priya. Priya ultimately came to the conclusion that enough was enough and chose to get dental implants. She found Dr. Sudhakar Reddy's Dental Implant Studio in Bengaluru while looking for the best dental implantologist.

Cases like Priya's are not unusual, according to Dr. Sudhakar Reddy. The lower cost of dentures and misconceptions and fears regarding implants drive people to choose dentures instead of implants. However, the advantages of implants justify the cost incurred assures Dr. Sudhakar Reddy.

Since dentures lack bone support, they must be secured with suction. There is some getting used to involved in using dentures. Additionally, they require more upkeep and must be immersed in water or a cleaning solution every night. One will never be able to consider dentures to be real teeth due to their plastic base and the fact that they are not a fixed option. Hard foods like apples, carrots, corn on the cob, nuts, popcorn, etc must be avoided as they might cause the dentures to wobble or come loose.

Implant, on the other hand, is a long-term fix that is inserted using a metal post that mimics the root of the teeth. There are no additional special requirements for maintaining an implant; it is maintained in the same way as regular teeth. After receiving a dental implant, there is no need to follow any dietary restrictions. "In actuality, the naked eye cannot tell the difference between an implant and natural teeth. Only an X-ray will reveal the difference, claims Dr. Sudhakar Reddy.

"After going through painful teeth removal due to periodontitis, I was incredibly afraid to undergo dental implant surgery. But I was pleasantly surprised when it was all over in a couple of hours with barely any pain or discomfort," says Priya. Dr. Sudhakar Reddy claims that receiving a dental implant causes significantly less discomfort than having a tooth extracted. Before performing the dental implant surgery, the mouth is numbed, and pain medication is administered right away following the procedure. As a result, neither during nor after the procedure, the patient feels any pain, according to Dr. Sudhakar Reddy.

At Dental implant studio, jayanagar , Bangalore, Dentures will be used only as a temporary option until the healing period of implants. Dr. Sudhakar Reddy says If a person can afford it,  Dental Implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth.  Priya flashes her pearly whites with gay abandon and declares that she completely agrees with Dr. Sudhakar Reddy.
